Best language learning app ever!

No app was never this helpful to me!

Not Very Satisfied

#1. Bought the app to learn Chinese, app teaches you how to say a bunch of different phrases which is what a lot of apps do however Mondly doesnt even explain what a specific word means when you try to tap on it, instead shows you the whole sentence in your native language to help you memorize it. #2. Chatbot is useful.

Yes

Thank who ever made this

Its okay...

This app has too many mistakes to waste $20 on it. Also: Some words you can touch and they go up to the answer box. Some you gotta drag. Id like to know if the paid-for app is as glitchy as the free app. This is a real issue because if youre trying to do the lessons fast you can click the answers and they just wont go up n by the time you click continue youve gotten it wrong. :/

Not Duolingo, but has advantages

Mondly is an app that basically attempts to mesh the gamified language approach of Duolingo with the conversational emphasis of Rosetta Stone. Since I am an avid Duolingo fan and have completed 5 language trees, my curiosity was piqued with Mondly. What does this app do differently from Duolingo that justifies charging money? So I tried it out to supplement my Persian studies in grad school and to refresh my Japanese, and... I honestly wasnt all that impressed. One of the best things about Duolingo is that the courses are built from the ground up by native/fluent speakers who understand how to learn the language. Mondly seems to take a more phrase book approach, translating stock phrases into the target language for users to translate again. This leads to situations like learning the word "Kare" for he/she as one of the first Japanese words. In my two years of formal Japanese study, I was never taught this word, because no one uses it. Another example is the frequent use of "to" for "you" in the Persian course. Persian learners: NEVER use "to" with anyone you dont know really well, as it is considered particularly rude. Always make sure to use "shoma". The other problem with the phrase book approach is that it teaches memorization rather than cognition. Duolingo is great at introducing the building blocks of grammar for new learners. Mondly leaves this subject until the last screen, and the app suffers for it in my view. That said, the addition of daily lessons is a good idea that I think Duolingo could take some cues from (although it would be an extra burden on the volunteer creators), and if youre a hipster like me who cant stick to the Romance languages like everyone else, Mondly has many options that Duolingo doesnt have. But bottom line: I would say that if Duolingo has the language youre trying to learn, use that instead.

Learning better German

I really enjoy this learning app. It teaches in a way that is easy to follow and it is fun to learn.

GREAT

Cool

Favorite language app !

After learning a great deal of German from duolingo, I decided to learn Chinese as well since I was moving there. To my suprise, duolingo didnt have a course for Chinese. So I had to look elsewhere and found mondly. I was very naive at first but decided to try it out. I loved it instantly because not only did feel like playing a game, I loved all the different features they let you sample such conversation: you can record your entire conversation there, playback your voice, and amazing practice with conversation. Definitely get this app as well as buy the one language option . This is awesome for any linguist enthusiast, or just some regular person who wants to just learn a new language. This app makes it fun and easy to do!

This is an amazing app it is so easy to learn a new language!

Great app!!!

Plane and simple, its a great app to learn a new language.

Whats up with iwatch version?

Love this app by phone, but initially wanted for new watch. However, version used on watch repeats same 4 or 5 small words and youre done! Why dont your lessons advance it change as they do in the iPhone version?? Am I missing a way to adjust the iWatch settings? :/

I love it so far!

I have friends who speak Czech and English so I wanted to be able I speak Czech with them! I havent finished learning but so far I have learned much more then I thought to be possible! Czech is hard but this app it really helping! I find the part where I have to write in Czech very challenging because I dont want to write it just speak it but that is ok! I still am excited to be able to speak Czech with my friends!

Almost

**Updated review to 4 stars due to top notch tech support and some grammar/spelling issues appearing to be addressed. Keep up the great work!!!! The software and method are top notch as supplemental language learning, but every language Ive tried is absolutely filled with inaccuracies. To the point that it borders on detrimental to learning the language. Ill definitely be back once the problem is addressed. But until then Duolingo is still the way to go for this sort of learning method.

Amazing

This app very useful for me

Perfect! Except...

I really do enjoy this and find myself to keep doing the same lessons over till I get it perfect. I just wish there was a randomized test at least on each lesson that doesnt ask the same things he single ones do or provide options for the answers. Just to make sure I really understand all the ways and am not just memorizing those specific phrases. Other than that. I love it. =]

Good app
